YOUTH REPORT
Trinity UMC – Fort Wayne, IN
December 2002
Here’s a summary of our recent activities: Thirteen youth and
three adults “treated” our Trinity elders living at Senior Town
apartments and the Woodview Health Care Center on Sunday, October
27th. We took “goodies” of cookies and candy, and we also took
photos of each elder with the youth group.
We are planning a return trip before Christmas On November 10th,
fourteen youth and five adults participated in the second “Food
Scavenger Hunt” for our Bloomingdale Food. Even though there were
tornado warnings out and it poured down rain, we were able to
bring in a small “mountain” of food donations. This was our second
Youth Service Project of the fall. On November 24th, fourteen
youth and several adults helped the men of the church unload new
bookshelves and furniture for classrooms and meeting spaces.
Pastor Jake then led in a Thanksgiving “art project”, which involved
having the youth send T-day cards to their parents with photos
and art work included! Some were pretty creative. On December
8th, fifteen youth joined the children, and “young disciples”
pre-teen group, in presenting the “Gifts for Mary” pageant during
worship. Afterwards, the youth did kitchen duty for the “Dickens
Dinner”, during which time they hand washed and dried over 1000
pieces of china, flatware and pots and pans! That evening they
shopped at the $DollarBill$ store for the annual Christmas gift
exchange. Then it was back to the church for the party, games
and closing prayer. We are not meeting on December 22 and will
resume our youth fellowship meetings on January 12th, Pastor Jake’s
last Sunday at Trinity.
All our youth are super! Thanks for helping us minister with
them.
